Pumpkin Pie Play-Dough Recipe

pumpkin play dough

Pumpkin Pie Play-Dough

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of water
  • food coloring (6 drops of red & 15 drops of yellow)

Combine the dry ingredients in a non-stick saucepan.   Add the oil, water, and food coloring.  Wisk until smooth.  Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula until mixture forms a ball, a couple of minutes.  Turn the dough onto the counter to cool slightly and knead a few times until smooth.  (It smells so yummy– but don’t eat it!)  😉

Have fun!  ~  Happy Fall!

Of course, you don’t have to make pumpkins…

Goodbye Summer…

goodbye summer

Oh, Summer, where did you go?

Things I’ll remember…

Red-faced, sweaty kids.  Mosquitoes.  Fun trips.  Loving our beautiful yard.  Watching the kids ride bikes around and around and around our driveway.  Hearing our baby’s heartbeat.  Being thankful for this family and the blessing of staying home with these precious kiddos.

Realizing that these days probably make up the best years of my life.

Pumpkin Spice Snack Mix

snack mix

Oh, ya’ll!  Have you noticed the yummy, pumpkin-y, fall deliciousness at the store lately???

fall treats

And Krispy Kreme…

photo-272

One of my favorite fall snacks is candy corn with peanuts!  YU-UM!  Salty and sweet… it’s like a candy corn flavored Payday bar!  This snack mix has the great salty-sweet flavors of candy corn and peanuts– spiced up a bit with white chocolate, raisins, peanut buttery goodness– AND pumpkin spice marshmallows!   Yes, I know it’s not very good for you!  😉  It is a treat!  It’s such a fun kid snack… but I like it, too!

pumpkin spice ingred

We got a big bowl and dumped in ingredients to our liking.  We used:

  • dry roasted peanuts
  • candy corn
  • golden raisins
  • white chocolate chips
  • Reese’s Pieces
  • Candy Corn M&M’s
  • Jet-Puffed Pumpkin Spice Marshmallows  (You’ll want to get an extra bag of these… I like to nibble on a few with my coffee in the mornings!)

It makes a ton, so plan to share!  🙂

We’ve been making this snack mix every fall for a few years now.  When we did our Pumpkin Party unit our first year of home schooling, we found this recipe.  It inspired us to make our own version!

My Cup Overflows! {and a psalm to sing}

happy tgiving

I know I say that quite often around here at i have no greater joy, but it’s so true!

My cup runneth over!

I have so much to be thankful for, and I am thankful for you, sweet friends and family this Thanksgiving!

In honor of those Pilgrims and their Psalm-singing, I wanted to share a psalm that my children would say is my favorite!  When it is my turn to request a psalm to sing, this is the one I always choose.  It really echoes my sweet life here with my Lord, my farmer, and my olive shoots!  🙂  Maybe you will sing it out loud today, too!   (It is sung to a familiar tune!)  And every mama loves Psalm 128, am I right?!

For Jehovah out of Zion will to thee His blessing send!

psalm 128

Are you singing? 😉

Happy Thanksgiving!

Then, maybe it’s time to practice a new Bible verse!  I thought Exodus 15:11 would be perfect!

We are having so much fall fun with friends and a great time reading through the Bible together.  I’ve got lots of fun pictures, Bible crafts and activities, and homeschool studies to share!  Can’t wait!
