“My Pleasure!” Points Party

Yipeeee!  Last week the kids earned all of their “My Pleasure!” points and got to have ice cream for dinner!  What are “My Pleasure!” points?  Find out by reading my post A Servant’s Heart.

A Servant’s Heart

“Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”  John 13:5

“…even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Matthew 28:20

A mother that was leading Bible studies in a group I participated in said that she put Matthew 28:20 in her kitchen window.  She wanted to be reminded many times each day that even Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, came to serve.  What a great reminder for all of us!

Isn’t Christlikeness what we want most for our children?  I want my children to find joy in serving others, to have servants’ hearts!  We’ve had Philippians 2:3 posted in our kitchen for years.  “Count others more significant than yourselves.”  Our first memory verses this summer will be about how we should treat others.  Also, we just started a “My Pleasure!” board.   We got this idea from an episode of 19 Kids and Counting– love those Duggars!  Michelle said that the owner of Chick-Fil-A taught his employees to answer every “thank you” from costumers with a “My pleasure!”  He wanted the employees to show costumers that serving them was a joy.  Take notice the next time you are there!  Michelle kept tally marks on paper beside each child’s name of how many times he answered a sibling with “my pleasure.”  We changed her idea a bit, and all the kids are working together.  We think our first reward will be  having ice cream for dinner when we reach 200 tally marks!

Our cute magnetic/ dry erase board was a gift from my sister.  It used to be a place to organize our school schedules.  We moved magnets around under each child’s picture based on his activities and requirements each week.

I love it!  The children are all doing more for each other and for Mom and Dad!   They are showing joy in serving each other!  An added bonus:  we are counting by fives and practicing tally marks throughout the day every day!

We started official homeschool this week!  Wow!   It has been GREAT!  More to come soon…
