Helping the Kids Understand Creation Through Drawing

We’ve been doing all things Creation around here!  Our history course this year begins at Creation and a science study we are doing focuses on learning about God’s world based on the things He made each day.

We did these Creation drawings with help from Answers in Genesis  and their step-by-step directions!  These pictures have really helped the children understand and remember each day better than a drawing where each day is done separately.  The children still had lots of great questions even after our drawing lesson, but I think the pictures helped!  In the end, I just had to say, “I’m not really sure about that!  Our God is more great and mighty than we can understand sometimes!”

So you start here…

And end up here…

Pretty neat, huh?

Here is a page from one of Charles’ books, A House for My Name, explaining God’s dividing the first 3 days and filling the next 3 days. (Yep!  I’ve already had to call Dad in on the teaching — the first week!!)

This was all very helpful for us in understanding God and His wonderful world, the work of his fingers, a little better!

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?  Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.  You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,  all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
