Back to R & R… and P!

Yes, it was time for this crew to get back to R & R… Reality and Routine!  Ha ha!  We had a  busy week back in homeschool after a fun three-week break!

The twins learned all about Pp this week!  The big kids wanted to be very involved in the preschool messes fun!  We enjoyed making peanut butter.

1 cup roasted peanuts, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1 tbsp oil

Making pink putty and purple play dough was fun, too!

We made pumpkin pie play dough  during our fun Pumpkin Party week, so this time we tried using apple pie spice, cinnamon, and cloves!

The silly putty recipe came from Compelled By Mel.  We had to add more glue to get ours just right.  It was a huge hit!

As if we didn’t have enough sticky messes, we also made peanut butter play dough, known at our house as “1st Grade Candy” because my mother-in-law has been making it for my husband since he was in First Grade!  Yummy! 🙂

1 c. peanut butter, 1 c. light Karo, 1 1/4 c. powdered sugar, 1 1/4 c. powdered milk

This school year the big kids have been studying Genesis and Ancient Egypt with our Veritas Press history.  We are discussing the 12 tribes of Israel and Joseph being sold into slavery in Egypt.  We have been exploring Egypt, learning about the life and writing.  The kids watched a YouTube video on papyrus making and used papyrus!  I’ve been receiving some strange notes. 😉

We discussed the Ancient Egyptians’ worship of idols and false gods…

“For what can be known about God  is plain… clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.  So they are without excuse.  For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and their foolish hearts were darkened.  Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles… they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator.”  Romans 1:19-24

School is back in session!

Ha ha! Yes, silly for sure! That’s what I get for leaving the room while 4 kids are playing with putty! :). After a little work with some soap and a fine-toothed comb, we were fine! All hair remained in tact! Thanks for the fun idea! 🙂
